How long will it take to get my nbn™ connected?
If you already have your nbn™ Connection Box installed we’ll normally connect you within 2-7 business days. This means you’ll mostly likely receive your modem before your service is activated.
If you live in an nbn™ service area and need nbn™ Co equipment installed then you’ll need an nbn™ Co installation appointment. You’ll need to schedule an appointment after you join Thorn Broadband. nbn™ Co will then send an nbn™ technician to undertake the work. It may take at least a few weeks to get your service activated due to factors such as the demand for nbn™ work in your area and nbn™ Co workforce availability.
Once your nbn™ Co installation has completed, we’ll send you an SMS normally within 2-7 business days to let you know that your nbn™ service is ready to use. Please wait for an SMS from us letting you know that your nbn™ service is activated and ready to use before plugging in your modem.
Note that these are usual timeframes only, we may be able to get you online sooner or your order may take a little longer than anticipated.
Can I keep my existing telephone number?
Yes, in most cases we can bring your existing telephone number over to the nbn™. We understand that moving to a new network isn’t always easy so our technical gurus use a process called LNP (Local Number Portability in full) to remove the hassle. Just call our friendly Sales Team on 1300 735 650 to discuss further.
What speeds might I get with Thorn Broadband on the nbn™?
A Thorn Broadband on the nbn™ service offers speeds up to 12Mbps download line speeds into the home and 1 Mbps upload speeds from the home. A Thorn Broadband on the nbn™ service with Speed Boost offers up to 100Mbps download line speeds into the home and 40 Mbps upload speeds from the home.
Actual speeds vary due to a number of factors such as your nbn™ connection type, your equipment and software and Internet traffic. Devices connected by Wi-Fi may also experience slower speeds than those connected by Ethernet cable.
Do I need a phone line to get nbn™?
No, you don’t need a phone line to get a nbn™. In fact, the nbn™ will replace your or take over your existing telephone line.
